We have an important update regarding our golf outing that was originally scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026.
After thoughtful discussions, we have decided to cancel the June 19 outing and combine our efforts with the annual UAW Region 4 Golf Invitational on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
By joining forces, we are creating one larger event with an even stronger turnout, more fun, and greater support for an incredible organization that has been changing lives in our community for generations.
Ottawa Friendship House and UAW Region 4 Annual Golf Outing
Ottawa Friendship House and UAW Region 4 invite you to participate in the 2026 Annual Golf Outing at Deer Park Golf Club.
Date: Saturday, July 25, 2026
Registration: 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
Shotgun Start: 10:00 a.m. sharp
Dress Code
Proper golf attire is required:
- No denim
- Collared shirts must be worn

Supporting a Legacy of Compassion and Opportunity
Your participation and donations directly benefit Ottawa Friendship House (Tax ID: 36-2600477), a remarkable organization that serves more than 100 adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in Ottawa and surrounding communities.
The story of Ottawa Friendship House began in 1953, when Jane McCormick, the mother of a son with Down syndrome, recognized the urgent need for educational opportunities for children with disabilities. Together with Pat Greathouse and Theresa Greathouse, she helped establish Echo School—originally known as Every Child Hope and Opportunity.
At a time when institutional care was often the only option, Echo School offered children and families hope, dignity, and support. The school flourished thanks to the generosity and steadfast commitment of UAW Region 4 members and the local community.
As the original students grew into adulthood, their needs evolved. In 1966, Echo School became Ottawa Friendship House, expanding its mission to provide adults with IDD opportunities for meaningful work, independent living, and fuller participation in the community.
Over the decades, Friendship House has continued to grow, offering:
- Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs)
- Intermittent Community Integrated Living Arrangements (ICILAs)
- Supportive day programming
- Community employment opportunities
- A professional work center that ensures participants earn a living wage
Today, Ottawa Friendship House stands as a powerful example of what can be accomplished when families, labor organizations, and communities work together with compassion and purpose.
