The staff are just wonderful to all the clients. It offers services to all different levels of specialized services to people with all different levels of developmental disabilities. They turn disabilities into abilities.
I am just so thankful for Friendship House. It has met every expectation I had and beyond what I even thought of. A lot of the people who work with Cheri are her best friends; they love her and treat her as an equal, as opposed to “just” a client.
The Mangold House is like a dream come true. I've got my own room, and I can just sit back, relax, and unwind. A lot of people have challenges, but I'm ready to step in and do hard work and show people that I can do it. I want to show people that it doesn't matter if "you" have a disability. It matters what's in my heart.
Terry lived at home for 54 years. We were getting older… and we knew Terry needed a structured environment, and we wanted independence and support for Terry. However, we were unsure how to achieve that. Then we found Friendship House.
Our transition wasn’t an easy one, but the staff at Friendship House didn’t give up on him. Terry is now receiving the support he needs and is a happy, well-adjusted man who works Monday through Friday at the Vocational Training Center, earns a paycheck, is taken to doctor appointments, and has help with grocery shopping and cooking. Seeing the growth and prosperity in Terry since he started at Friendship House is truly remarkable. As parents, we are no longer worrying about the safety of our son or his overall well-being. Because of Friendship House, we are happy, and so is Terry.
Thank goodness we found Friendship House’s semi-independent living on their beautiful campus!
